Meet the Principal

Hello Cherry Valley Students and Families,

Words cannot express the level of excitement that I am feeling knowing that I will be joining Cherry Valley’s educational community as the new principal for the 2024-25 school year. For years, I have driven past this quaint country school. Without fail, the American Flag standing high and waving proud greets me as I pass. The school’s God Bless America sign instantly reminds me that there are places where country roots still run deep. At each passing, I feel an innate sense of belonging and knowing that someday I would get to be a part of this incredibly special community.

I am a small town girl in every sense of the word. My family, originally from a small farm town in Nebraska, moved to Colorado when I was 8. I traded in my wrangler jeans, worn out cowgirl boots and my belt with my name stitched across the back for snow pants, hiking boots and a dirt bike. The beautiful mountain town of Leadville became home and it was there that I met my best friend and husband of 19 years. I taught 4th and 5th grades, was an instructional coach and a middle school principal until my husband and I decided to move our family of three to Castle Rock in 2014. I became the principal at Meadow View Elementary and was there until 2021 when I left education to work with my husband, managing our office for our custom home building company, Liberty Construction and Development. I welcome change and am a true believer that wherever I am is exactly where I am meant to be.

I am passionate about leadership and love working closely with teachers and staff to ensure a nurturing, safe environment that is conducive to student learning and social emotional growth. My professional experience is heavily rooted in effective instructional practices and data driven decision making. I love collaborating with teachers and staff to develop and support personalized, engaging learning opportunities for all students. My favorite part of the day is in the morning when I get to greet students with a hug or high-five.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to growing and supporting all of our learners, teachers, staff and families. Thank you Cherry Valley!

 Kindly, Lacey Dahl
